From Homeless to Debt-Free: How We Helped One Man Rebuild His Life

For one local man, life unravelled quickly. Living with undiagnosed ADHD and OCD, he sold his property to clear mounting debts, but it wasn't enough. Before long, he found himself homeless, moving between his car and hotels, too ashamed to reach out to those closest to him. Contact with his sister faded, and he faced his situation alone.

It was only when his money finally ran out that he felt able to ask for help. His sister brought him to one of our Jubilee Clinics, and that visit changed everything.

Our Jubilee Team got to work straight away. They supported him in applying for Universal Credit and LCWRA status (Limited Capability for Work and Work-Related Activity), and worked with Derby Homes to secure him stable housing. This gave him a foundation from which to begin addressing his challenges.

But there was still the matter of £30,000 in debt. For someone now living on benefits, that figure could have felt impossible. Our advisers helped him apply for a Debt Relief Order, and the entire amount was written off.

Today, he is housed, debt-free, and rebuilding his life alongside his sister.
